  • How long can I leave my printer?

Posted by M Brown on 10 December 2008 at 16:27

    Hi All,

I’m going away for four days after Christmas, can I leave my machine off for this period, or is it best to flush the whole printer of ink.

I was told I could clamp the pipes and fill the caps up with solvent which will keep the heads moist, is this OK to do?

    Hi Mark

Be careful if you clamp and fill the capping stations. On the Cadet you can siphon between cartridges if they have unequal amounts of ink.

I have left mine for that long with no issues. Just flushed the waste pipes fully and moistened up the capping stations and left the sub power on. Saying that, Its gone two days before and given me grief 😕

Left ours (65") for a week, once… took 3 days to get it back up and running 🙁

Now when it’s not being used, we just leave the power on, and now and then it sorts it’s self out.

I’ve done both, When I did the full flush I had problems as I only had 2 flush cartridges so I had to re install the inks, the flush ruined the rubber seal on the cartridge and they leaked, had to throw them away.
So now I just leave it with a little cleaning fluid in the capping station, not full though as you’ll get siphoning, this has been fine for the last couple of years holidays. Just need to run a cleaning cycle or even pull some ink though with the syringe.
Having said that I’ve also had problems after only one day of no printing 😮
