  • How do you – Printed tonal on printer. Help required, please

    Good afternoon everyone.

We’ve been asked a couple of times for a tonal print in either solid white or ‘etch effect’ onto transparent vinyl to use as window manifestations. We’re able to source the vinyl and can print with white or primer on our Jetrix printer, but as far as i’m aware the printer (or maybe the RIP software) is not able to let us print white or primer as a tonal print ?

We use Onyx Thrive for our RIP program, but when I add white and primer to an image it just covers that image in a solid block and that’s what comes out on the print when we print it on the Jetrix.

Does anyone know either a ‘way round this’ or a way of producing a tonal print with the white or primer ?

I’ve attached an image below of what we’re trying to achieve.

Thanks in advance for any help.

    Hi Adrian

I would do this with a gradient in illustrator 100% white to 0% white then send the the rip print on clear then back in frosted

Hope this has helped you if not you can pop in and I’ll show you.
