  • how do i sort Illustrator PDF Problems (Versaworks)?

    Hey guys,

Sometimes when I save a PDF from Illustrator and I’ve got some effects or transperancies in Versaworks when I rip and print the file its like the square/rectangle of the object changes colour slightly so you can visibly see it.

Am I saving with the wrong PDF settings or need to do something different?

It’s a pain to open the file in Photoshop and resave the file which seems to fix the problem.

    Cheers
    Jason

Hi Jason – we sometimes get that using corel x3 too…. seems to be the order of the layers in the file – anything you don’t want affected must be brought forward of the effect/transparency layer.

The BMW we posted yesterday had that problem – we used the shadow tool to create a shadow on the ‘735.com’ which put an ‘invisible’ rectangular raster layer into the file…we remembered to bring the lady to the front on the RHS but forgot on the LHS 👿 – when we printed the LHS the lovely lady was tanned only above the invisible line created by the shadow layer (<( …so back into corel, correct it, re-save as pdf and print again 😳

If this is the answer, let us know, because we don’t use Illustrator that much, but get a lot of illustrator files from graphic designers, some of which have the same problem…they don’t ever see it until we (:) ring them to find out whats wrong with the file

I get this Jason when using transparencies in illustrator saved to EPS. Have not found a way round it though. Interesting to see if there is a solution to this.

Glad I’m not the only one.

I haven’t found a solution direct from Illustrator.

At the moment I’m opening up files in Photoshop and resaving them.

Happened to me today on two posters.

I will ask around on some Illustrator or the Roland forums and report back.

    Hi
I’ve found myself dealing with the same problem a couple of times. The way i go about to solve it is by reassuring me that the cut layer is on top of every layer. making sure that the transparency layer doesn’t affect the cutconture line.

    Hope that works for you!

I posted on the Roland forums so only reporting back.

The user signguy posted this link which explains why it happens.

    Hope this helps.
