    Hi
    😀 😮 (?)
Is there a special technique on how to place vinyl on top of another vinyl as a shadow. I seem to get quit a bit of bubbles on some stuff i do.It doesnt help when applying the vinyl to cars because you cant do much with them bubbles.

are you putting the lettering on first ….or are you trying to match it up before you apply the whole graphic?

lettering anything with a shadow, must be done separately or you will get a series of bubbles following the shape of the letter where both layers meet.

applying multiple layers can be done by eye, but the use of a registration line or marks is always best.

trying to explain an application “technique” is very hard to type up.
ide suggest having a look at a video i done a couple of months ago on this subject in the demo forum.

Brian we do lots of multi layering don’t use clear app tape or anything wet some of our layers are 5 + no bubbles I just don’t understand why you would need clear app tape 🙄

i dont get bubbles ether lynn 😀 😀 😀 I’m not saying its write or wrong i personally find it easier to line things up .without trying to sound patronizing you have the write to question it ….thats what this forums all about 😀 😀 😀

I only use the clear when I am replacing just a letter or two on a sign and I just want to eyeball it.
My clear smells weird so I don’t use it if I don’t have to. 😀

same here if we get a small amount of vinyl from a certain company near us, they smoke a hell of a lot and it always REAKS

if I want to layer a sign quickly I’ll use clear and wet, but you only get one go because the glue on the clear app tape is not conducive to water 😕

Sames as laying a dark top colour over a black shadow, paper app tape will be much harder to align but clear will make it heaps easier.

i find the clear app tape easier for multiple layers, and is a lot easier to remover afterwards, you can layer even on the wax backing with clear and still remove the app tape not easy with paper

    Just a tip

f you need to put say white lettering covered in regular app tape on to a darker outline layer it helps to rub the text layer lightly with a black crayon ,that shows up the letters
makes lining up within the outline easier
    works for me
