Hi Andrew I’m trying to email you a screen shot but in the forum there is no option to add attachment. I use Illustrator everyday and i though if i take screen shot that could help you manage. 🙂

If you want to create a cutting path you need to do it in illustrator.

Double click on the swatches palette then follow the steps there.
Name you color swatch so the color rip will pick it up as a cutting path.

choose Color type as spot color. And that should give you an idea.

ok ill give it a shot.
Illustrator you have your tool palette on the left side ok
There is a PEN TOOL choose that with this tool you can draw anything you want . its tricky. lots of practice.
Then its simple its like everything you draw is vector unless you rasterize it ten it will become a flat image. you can save PDF format .ai .eps etc.
It a very good software much better then corel draw. if you need any help let me know. your not waisting my time. 🙂

that means your fill is set as white color you can change that in your tools palette on the left side see these squares there is a fill and there is a stroke. You can change there colors. either from the swatches palette or double click on them. 🙂

so is it supposed to fill or is it got to be set to stroke so it dont fill?

depends how you want your drawing to look
Fill stands for inside color and stroke stands for edge color
if you don’t want any color there on the stroke and the fill then you got to select each one and choose the little white square with red slash right below the big squares.

    Derek,

Not sure if same for vinyl master pro – but in Flexi you will need to save the Illustrator file (or EPS) as Illustrator version 3 – not CS. Give this a try.

ok now you have your drawing ready ok
the next step is to make that path separate from others as a cutting path
    lets see
you know the printer you use the cutting path what does it have to be named so the color rip software of your plotter picks it up.

for example for my printer i use Roland and it requires for me to save the color from my swatches of the cutting path and name it as CUTCONTOUR. so when i open my eps file in the color rip software it will pick up the CUTCONTOUR as cutting path.
