  • how do i import impact outlines into X3 please?

Posted by Marcella Ross on 11 June 2007 at 14:06

Can anyone answer this for me please.

I design everything in Signlab and if I’m forwarding artwork with a vehicle outline to a customer I export from Signlab as an ai then import in to Corel where the colours and res is better for me to export as a jpeg. When I do this most of the time it’s perfect but other times the artwork is all fine but the Impact vehicle outline is missing shutlines and panels etc ……………..???????
I know I can import the outline from my Impact disc straight into Corel and then resize my artwork onto it. But I just wondered why this is? It would save me time if I didn’t have to redo it in Corel but just use my complete imported file.

What version of Signlab is it? EPS is usually better than AI. Even in Signlab 7.1 bits seem to disappear between Signlab & Corel when you export as Ai.

aaaahhhhhhh …………. I never tried exporting as an eps ………… I usually always use ai files.

Just tried that and it’s fine 😀 Thanks!

Just always wondered why it did that ………….. 😉

Later versions of signlab have the ‘send image by email’ feature, that saves hours!! Unfortunately if they customer is using the dreaded aol this feature doesn’t work so now I export as a pdf from signlab and that is pretty quick too.

Out of interest, when I export and then import to corel, all the colours look really washed out, do you get this Marcella?

yes ………… I have to change the colours in Corel Gavin. I have Signlab 7 and have previously used the email feature but I usually prefer to send a jpeg.

Gavin ……….. importing as an eps seems to keep the colours brighter 😕 (?)

So it does… dammit, the amount of time I must have wasted of the years! You live and learn 😀

(still prefer the email thingy though, you can change it from the png thingy to a jpeg, but it does still embed it)

Why not just publish to a PDF?

most people can view, but you have the option in signlab to forbit editing or printing?

    edited to say:

    sorry, Gavin already suggested this,
