  • how do i get the opus sytem to work with my summa please?

    Hello,
I`m sure that i am doing somthing silly, but for the life of me I can not figure out how to get this OPUS system t work.
So far i have created a design in .ai and have added four small black squares (3mm x 3mm) 1 in each corner of the page.
I have worked out the distance between the markers by subtracting the cordinates of the furtherst marker from the nearest one.

Then i load the cutter and enter the X and Y figures into the summa controll program. Next i go to the cutter and choose align load, move the sensor over the first mark and lower it using the screw.

press enter and the cutter seems to move to halfway down the page looking for another marker?

It is a summa D60SE cutter if that makes a difference

So do I need 6 markers – 2 top, 2 middle and 2 bottom or is there something else i am doing wrong?

    Cheers

I use a Summa with Corel X3 and the Winplot programme from Summa. If you are using this combination I can explain, post here or give me a ring and I will talk you through it.

I’m working on a van at the moment and will finish tomorrow, I will give a click by click answer then, assuming nobody else does. For you to start though, On a vinyl legth of say 1200mm I will use 5 or 6 markers top and bottom – be sure to place them using Corel docker (for accuracy) and make a note what you set ie 200mm apart.
Make sure the Summa cutter control software is installed, this enables setting stuff from the desktop rather than the cutter. You will need to set the marker size and positions from there. That info is sent to the cutter to set it up and will make life much easier when repeating cutting.
    Will be more thorough tomorrow

I am having a similar problem. I am using COCUT Professional and my Summa D60 SE recognizes the first marker(origin) and then asks for another point along the same X Axis. Once it reads those 2 markers it cuts the graphic but my problem is it cuts it in the wrong spot. I too have Corel X3 and Adobe CS2. I have upgraded my version of COCUT to work with both pieces of software. I posted a similar question and explained my problem in detail but it posted under the printer forum. Read through that post it my get you a little further along with your problem. If you do manage to get the plotter to recognize the markers and it works out for you let me know what you did right. Are you maintaining the correct distance around the markers? I don’t think that you even need to provide the distances between the markers if you are using the OPOS feature. Did you set your plotter to the X Axis configuration? This setting is also suppose to contour cut too?

    hello

if your marks are not pure black the opas does not always work, how you can test that is by cutting some black squares and placing them over your printed ones, then try
what rip are you using ?, as rips like ergo soft add the marks automatic
    regards
