  • how do i fit a front loading lightbox properly?

    Hi All, I ahve a problem 😀

A customer of mine has asked me to place a lightbox into an opening in a wall, the opening is 1820mm wide x 940mm high x 220mm deep.

I somehow need to secure a lightbox in this opening and front load the panel/s in. The issue I have is that if there is no room top, bottom, left or right of lightbox because of the surrounding wall how do I tighten the screws that laock the frame in place? I sthere a system where the frame snaps in for example, eliminating the need for the screws?

Please, please someone help me, ive been racking my tiny brains all day over this. I have spoken to universal and they suggested a technique which involves splitting the panel in two, but I really don’t want to do that as it is at waist height in a public area, might lokk pants!!!! 😕

    Cheers in advance

    Aaron.

Why not set it in the recess with one edge open and flex the panel in.
No need for a hanging strip as it’s not big) Then silicone adhesive seal the last strip (one of the ends) in place, or high bond D/S tape.

Visually will look the same – will hold up to ‘normal’ use & abuse, but you’ll know that that edge will pull off with some brute force.

OR, attach some small 1" brakets to the rear of the box – pre-drill fixings in the back of the cavity & secure the completed box with a long screwdriver – does mean leaving a gap though…

The other option is to try the rollerbead (not sure of spelling) from SMP where the frame folds out but still allows a hanging strip for the panel to slide on…I think they also put a bit in the supplier section.

    quote David Rogers:

    Ah, like a snap frame…

Yep just like that but SMP’s explaination sounds better

"ROLLERBEAD – is our unique Two-Piece frame capable of housing panels single or double from 3mm to over 25mm thick. It loads from the front and therefore fits into appertures where no other frame would go! (See our page on Sign Boxes for further details)."

Used it a few times now and works a treat

    Cheers guys,

Dave, I like your idea but I got in contact with sms and they seem to have a system I can use 😀 , probably gonna give tehm a whirl, I’ll let you know how I get on.

Cheers for the contact Craig, much appreciated! 😉

I’m still not totally sure how this works but they have assured me it’s the way to go. Try anything once!! 😮
