    Bend it 😕

Depending on what your putting it onto(if it’s a pre-curved backing
screwing it on as you go along might suffice.

If it’s free standing of any description it might have to be bent by an engineering co. with a set of rollers

    Thanks Fred.

Was in a rush earlier and dint explain myself well in that email.

I am trying to put a dibond face onto a metal frame (which will have curved cross beams). The frame will be 1000 – 1200mm wide and I would like the dibond to curve outwards by about 150mm in the middle. Will I be able to bend it without distorting the face? I had thought about routering out lines on the back face to make it more flexible.

    What do you think?

    hi Ruairi,

I think if you rout lines in the back you will probably see them as steps on the front.

from sizes you’ve given the dibond will more than likely take the bend no problem.

i would start fixing in the middle and work left then right though 😀

Cheers Fred Ill give that a go. I just thought of the routed version as someone had said if I take out the aluminium and not the plastic on the back side then dibond was easily curved.

Removing the alum and leaving the plastic makes for easy bends and i’m sure it will leave stress lines on the front of the panel when you come to bend around the sub-frame 🙂

Nope I cant see any pics! have they been removed for some reason?

Fred – i tried it before but went to deep and ended up with tram lines! i think if you just loose the aluminum and no more then it works fine! Someone else might confirm this for me!?

:lol1: :lol1: keep the groves close enough and don’t router too deep and they wont show, i’ve been using this method for a few years now, and have had great results,
