  • How do i break up a pdf to get the logos out as vectors?

Posted by Liam Pattison on 26 October 2009 at 18:13

    Hi,
i was wondering is anybody able to explain to me how to get certain parts out of a pdf so that i can use them as a cuttable vector please.

I use flexisign, is it possible with this software?

A couple of people have helped me on here with this before, but i would really like to be able to do this on my own.

Give a man a fish and he’ll feed himself for a day, give him the means to catch his own fish and he can feed his whole family for a lifetime, or something like that.

    Thanks

    Liam

I use Illustrator, which can open PDFs for editing.
Not sure about Flexi, it depends on how it handles PDFs. You could always
try opening one and see if it comes in editable.

    Hi Jamie

thanks mate, i tried that just now, flexi can open the pdf’s but anything it opens comes up as a solid area, rather than an outline if you see what i mean.

So say if i opened a logo contained within a square it would only see the outer square as the outline rather than the logo contained within it if that makes sense.

Maybe i will need to invest in illustrator in the future for this purpose as i’ve needed to do it a few times already.

    cheers

    Liam

    Hi Mate

Load into flex, then right click somewhere over the rectangular box that is imports it as and select unmask, the deselect, then select the mask and delete it. Do the latter a few times until all the masks are gone.

    Hope that makes sense

    Cheers
    Dave
