  • How can we cut Correx?

Posted by John Stevenson on 9 August 2006 at 07:35

    Hi

We’re using 10mm Corex (actually Euroflute from Europoint) for the first time and having difficulty cutting across the flutes.

Obviously cutting the length of the flutes is easy but what’s the best way to cut across?

    Hi,
I cut 5mm, 10mm correx and foamex all in the same way. Use a straight edge, I have a brilliant one from hexis, with a non slip backing. and protects your fingers.
With a sharp, or new stanley knife, just run it along the straight edge fairly lightly, usually a couple of passes will do it. I find going either way over the flutes works fine, obviously easier length ways.
In what way are you having a problem, i.e. going wonkey donkey or just not cutting???? 🙂

    OK Matt

    Thanks for that.

Perhaps we were just being a wee bit tentative as it’s our first time.

I’ve tried your advice and been reasonably successful now

    Cheers

Good thought Nik – hadn’t realised that was possible.

Asked now and apparently their guillotine is broken but we’ll remember that in future.

    Thanks

    Thanks Brian

Got that from JAG – it’ll make cutting with the flute very easy.

Any clever ideas for cutting across the flute?

I guess the same principles would apply as when cutting foamex by hand.

See this tutorial by Rob Lambie:

This is the way we cut correx against the flutes.
