I would recommend putting in a panatrim frame,
Perspex is brittle and expands alot

If you are using Cast Acrylic , the acrylic expands in all directions , extruded expands along the direction its extruded – make your holes oversize to accomodate expansion , like a 3mm hole make 5mm and use a washer. you might need more than holes at each corner for that size perhaps 3 holes per side – dont screw the screws real tight , leave enough so that the perpsex “slides” as it expands.

We are unable to use a panatrim frame as it is fitting into a recess, so I think it has to be screwed in, what could I use to cover / disguise the screws?

Panatrim was designed to be used in recesses
Make sure you tell them when ordering that it is to be front-loaded
