    hi all

I am new to sign writing in vinyl. Can you help with is what I have a good package?

I purchased a small existing business, and he was using, Omega 1.56, and Jasc Paint Shop.

At present i have got a design i created in Omega, a two colour design. But the problem i have is that i have two separate pieces in the same colour that are on different layer, one with the light background, the other with the dark backgound and a light foreground. So when i print it or e mail it to client, one is hidden by the other colour.

    I hope that makes sense.

Or should I not be trying to design in Omega?

Design packages have a feature that allows you to re-arrange the layers. I wouldn’t know how to do it in Omega – but you need to find a function that allows you to select each object and arrange it’s position relative to any other objects in the drawing. Usually this means sending to front or rear the particular object that is selected

select every thing and click on a vinyl colour that you want to use, found at the very bottom LHS of you screen to change all vinyls to that colour,
    if that makes sense!!

Go into Arrange and you will see at the top "To back" and "To front".

You have to make sure that the layer you want to move is selected in order to move it.

I can select the darker colour, bring it forward, but then it covers the lighter colour i have else where in the design that i want in the foreground.

should it be cut out to reveal the lower layer, if so how?

Sorry mate but can you explain a bit clearer? if you bring an image from the front to the back then it will overlap if the other image was overlapping already. The first program I used was Graphix advantage then Omega took over. I had to teach myself as well as learning how to use a p.c. You have to play on it for hours to grasp it. When you work it out you will find it’s a great program to use.

    hi karl

basically i have a logo that its light green with a dark green background and the lettering is dark green with a light green surrounding background.

    i hope thats clearer.

other than this i have found omega to bit very good.

Richard, I’ve just tried it mate. you are using the foil colour palette. You have to ensure the cuts on is selected or cuts off selected.
if you want to use vinyl only use the palette at the bottom.

You will probably find the program will only layer the same colour on one level. (if it is like Graphics advantage – it’s predecessor) I get around this by using the closest alternative shade and re-colour the object that keeps disappearing.

    Hi All

Thanks for all your answers. I have now used the last suggestion of changing the colour slightly. Works a treat, just have to remember that need to change it back before cutting so as to include it with right colour.

I am new to this site and it is very good to have such a good response, well done all.
