  • How best to hand a plastic sign on a wall without fixings?

Posted by TimDouglas on 8 April 2008 at 07:28

Looking to put a foamex sign on a wall inside(500mmx500mmx5mm) but dont want to have to drill the wall, I have a hot glue gun , gripfill , number plate pads? It is long term as its a new building. Any ideas, think the hot glue will harden and fall off, gripfill might never be able to get it off the wall.

    Thanks Tim D

    Hi Tim

Depending on the wall surface you could use VHB tape, use the foam 1mm thick tape as it will conform to slight groves in the wall.

    Cheers

If the sign is long term, I’d stick it up with foam tape and ‘no nails glue’ without worrying too much about if the glue will ever come off the wall.

When the sign comes down in the future it’s more than likely that someone else is going to want a sign in the same position which will cover up any glue or wall damage, or worst case, they have a bit of of decorating to do.

I frequently have to remove a sign that’s been glued to the wall, and have always been able to get the sign off without too much damage.:)

I believe Tecman have a £50 minimum order value.
I wonder how much business they lose by doing this?

    you’re right Peter…they do

I always order well over that anyway for our needs but I agree it may be a problem for some

I must say they are the kind of company I like to deal with though……polite, friendly, order taken quickly and with all the help you need without getting passed from pillar to post and most importantly the order turns up without fail when they say it’s going to

Tim, whats it to be attached to? Yer I know a wall :lol1: :lol1:
but is it bare plaster board, painted, papered etc etc. Does it need to be 5mm foamex or could it be something lighter?

Maybe silicone clear sealer would work applied with the gun.
