Hooped Post System – Windload ???
Hi, I have a customer who wants a sign like this doing, as in the hooped effect:

They want the actual sign board to be 5ft X 5ft, with the overall height ( to clear the wall and to allow for the amount of post to go in the ground ) to be 12ft ( so 7ft of leg up until the bottom of the sign board )
Have just got off the phone to Ashby who say they do not make them anywhere near this big ( i didnt think it was that big ! ), because of windload, which i know little about.
If anyone can put me in touch with someone who does manafacture this system to these sizes ( i’m sure of seen them this big elsewhere )
Also any comments on windload would be helpful, not just for me, but i’m sure for many others.

Try Amalgamated Signs who are a trade supplier only. They will manufacture any size and allow for the wind factor and will even intstall for you.

I suspect the Ashby ones are tubular aluminium. Flexing the alu will stress fracture it eventually, what with the top of this sign ‘wanging about’ in the wind which is probably why they are reluctant to sell them.
