  • Honda Tank badges, any one applied them?

    Hi all

I’ve been asked by a friend/local spray shop to apply some tank badges on a Honda fuel tank, they are genuine Honda stickers and consist of 2 pearlecent stripes and the Honda name stickers.

They are on 3M vinyl with the textured adhesive and also include what I would call markers to help line up the sticker.

Problem is the top long one goes from the front bottom to the back of the filler cap and has to conform to a few curves.

I have already messed one of these up trying to get it right, the 3M sticks like $!*& to a blanket so you don’t have much chance if you get it wrong!
I’m thinking of cutting a few copies with temp vinyl to get the right start position but thought I’d ask here first.

So has anyone any experience with these and can give me a few pointers?

A picture of a similar CBR can be found here

This ones darker blue but still the same white pearlecent stickers

    Thanks
    Steve

We put application tape on them, cut them to shape and tape the sticker down onto the tank in place..then hinge the decal down, only way to make sure it stays in place..hope this helps..

These stickers already have clear app tape on them and seem to be setup for application by the factory, they have a cutout that seems to fit around the filler cap and another at the other end that I’m not sure what it’s for.

I may use your method though, these are really hard to get right as they go around the edge of the tank so there is that really bad double curvature were the leg cutouts are.
