  • high grade reflective vinyl supplier please?

Posted by Stuart Whitehouse on 22 November 2007 at 16:03

    Hi all

I’ve got 3 rear doors on company cars to do in reflective chevrons. Its a massive government run company and I’ve done plenty of them for them before in normal reflective vinyl.

However these ones are for a specific motorway contract and now I need to do these ones in the same grade (think its diamond grade) reflective as you see on police cars, ambulances etc. i.e. the fluorescent, prismatic reflective as opposed to the normal flat reflective.

Can anyone suggest a supplier for this material. I only need a couple of metres @ 610 wide or am I better doing it using a 100mm roll?

    many thanks

    stuart

i think that cutting the diamond grade is the problem, unless you can do it with a stanley blade. it also needs edge sealing.

there is a company in burgess hill, west sussex, who do kits etc, they do most of the west sussex (and beyond) police cars, i’ll try and think of their name, though they have been recommended on here before.

I recently used the daybright diamond grade from hexis, It can be cut with a plotter, and dosnt need edge sealing it comes in 757mm rolls or precut in 25m rolls
draw back, £50 a metre, best price for 757mm

    or 25m x 100mm eoll for just £233.40

Home office approved though, and easy to use

    peter,
have you done any vehicles that have been exposed to long term weather with hexis?
we tested this and found without edge sealing it failed at the very edges, however this was only noticeable at night when the edges didnt reflect.

Only done them a few weeks ago. so no not long term yet, at the price paid for the reflective I would not expect any problems. How long before you noticed the problem?

i believe it began to fail at about 2yrs.
it gives a dirty look to the first 5mm of the edge basically, not overly noticable especially on the kind of vehicles it goes on (motorway maintenance etc). but it appears water ingresses between the layers, however it doesnt go any further than the first honeycomb if that makes sense.
its possible hexis have a new reflective that doesn’t need sealing?

Its the v312 series, called daybright I used, and hexis state in their brochure "No edge sealing required"
