  • hi-vis orange… laminate to prolong life?

    HI all,

I have a possible job to work on some very expensive kit, they want lettering cut from hi-vis 3m orange, i’ve explained that 3yr is as good as it gets but, I was wondering if the life can be extended by coating with a UV lamiante before cutting?

any one with any experience or thoughts on this?

    thanks,
    Hugh

I would imagine if you bought a good "UV" laminate it would do Hugh.
I would imagine a 3M stockest would be more able to advise you on this.

I say that, based on my own experience of buying coloured polyester films for stained glass windows. they have high end coloured filters in the films with several UV filters also. all in i think they are 5-6 layers thick and they are pretty thick. they are 10 year life films. i know this is not the vinyl we are talking about, im just meaning i know specifically that the life of "that film" is increased due to the different layers of UV filter, so ide imagine it can only aid on the dayglow. personally, ide give zero gaurantees over it to your customer.
