Hi All for the second time.

Some of you may know me from times past as I have not been around for a while.

The past few years have been like a roller coaster, with high ups and very low downs but all is good now thank god. In the past 3 years, the world economy collapsed but we all had that to deal with. My Dad spend 10 months in hospital after complications with a operation he went in for, he was due to be there for 2 weeks. We were called to say our fare well to him, I will never forget that. Over the next 9 months he made a slow recovery, often making one step forward and two steps back. This was soul destroying to watch and be helpless, there was so many nights upon leaving the hospital after a visit I would sit in the car and cry for a while or pull in on the road home for a cry and at times it did make me feel a little better, Why? I don’t know. During all this we were trying to build a House and deal with all the contractors and the day to day challenges that that brings and on top of all that my wife was expecting our first child (second is currently on the way) so in a nut shell we have had a mad few years where words can’t express the different emotions we had to deal with from the highs of parenthood to the lows of being called to say Good Bye to Dad.

It is journeys like this that let us know what life is about.

We are blessed as I still have Dad with me and our first child Cian who is a little legend and currently making his was trough his “terrible twos”!!!

Thanks for all your good wishes, they mean a lot.

Nicola, Its important to share and it helps to share, I have learned this. The thing I did not mention is that I also got depressed for a time also. This manifested itself in that I “did not or could not” deal with any challenges at all, most things, big or small were to challenging to deal with. So I just glossed over them, if I did not talk or think about them it was not a problem!!!!

I realised I was in trouble when I found myself standing in the front hall of the house, my wife was at work, Cian was with my parents and I was looking around saying to myself, “I don’t deserve all this” I was NOT about to act on it or do anything to hurt myself or family, but it was awake up call.

The thing I have learned is talk to someone, anyone just talk to someone who will listen and not judge and do things, one small job at a time and things start to fall into place, if possible keep the head active. I have also learned that here there are so many people suffering from depression and I have only learned this by saying I was depressed.

I have no problems writing about my experience further if anyone would like me to. Let me stress I am not a councillor and but will write about my experience if any wants.
