    Hi,
my second post as I forgot to say hi here first!

Just a quick hello into the forum, I’ve been lurking for a while and read the forum for hours while recommissioning my printer.

I’ve got a Tiara Opal II, essentially a Mutoh Rockhopper II. I got it over the summer and have recommissioned it and for 6-8 weeks its been running really well, just got an issue with a new media I’ve got (but I started that in my other thread so I won’t go into it here). I’m using a budgetish vinyl to run through the printer when I’m not printing on my main media

I acquired the printer because everyone I spoke to wouldn’t touch the media I wanted to print onto, it’s a specialist PET & PU clear for making wakeboard and snowboard top graphics and most baulked at it when I explained what it was. So, given this I’m a complete newbie with this stuff and not come from a signwriting or digital printing background but been thrust into the work at warp speed! So please excuse any incorrect terminology and possibly naive questions.

    Cheers
    Chris

welcome to the boards chris, great to have you here.

Not sure the material that you’re after as i don’t know what the boards are made of or the surface finish you are applying to as such. Do you know what other manufacturers are using for same?

The material I have is a modified 0.5mm thk clear TPU/ABS with corona treatment, I’ve done a couple of test prints on it so far. I’ve got 4 different types to play with to begin with before I have to buy a roll and at £8+vat a metre I’m trying to get the most out of the samples I have!!

The datasheets are useless and the manufacturer has basically said "do your own tests, I don’t know" !!

@Chris Montgomery, how do you upload a photo? I can’t seem to find a user info mod button? (I’m probably being stupid though!)

Surely a direct to board process possibly a uv ink is the best option for what your explaining?? And have you not tried a printable wrap material with quality high impact laminate ?

Welcome to the forum Chris, can’t help with your printing issue personally but sure someone with print experience will.
    Best of luck with it.

The boards are contoured and are not flat on any axis sand of variable thickness o wouldn’t be able to feed through anything that I could afford to use!

The wrap is an option I’m looking into, there’s a local printer just up the road who will varnish a high impact coating onto it too, so many things to look at!

Still having a few issues with banding on mainly the cyan (or it’s more noticeable on the cyan)
