Hi all, just to say hi and get noticed. My name is Gaz, Scottish but based in Grimsby. I am completely new to the game and am in the process of trying out sign making to expand my “empire”. I currently manufacture and cast pewter figures etc, & also make latex, RTV and Vulcanised moulds. This is all a part time venture and I supplement my income with HGV driving. Due to being fed up with getting speeding tickets, fines etc (aren’t we all i hear you say) I have decided to “expand” & being graphically enabled? and having a good eye for drawings, I thought about signwriting and signage/livery. This came about as recently my boss has purchased some new vehicles and was paying a fortune to have them “decorated”. Not by a local I may add but by someone who operates 60 miles away! There isn’t a lack of sign shops in this area (one or two are definately lacking!!!) but I figure I might just be able to squeeze in and give it a try. Having bought a 24″ Roland (2H) to play with, I still need some more info and some good consumables suppliers (help please 🙄 ) any advice offered will be noted and appreciated. Cheers, Gaz

    Hi Gazza,

Glad to see another new comer on the boards – it’s a bit of a grammar/spelling minefield round here mate, so best get used to it 😆

As the others said, don’t be affraid to ask away – we were all beginners once and you’ll find a wide spread of skills/abilities here to help you along.

Hi Nigel, yeah i’ve been reeding the poasts and seaing what evryone has been saying hehe, Just hope they all use spellcheckers 😆
Basically, I have a couple of suppliers but need to expand on these, needing hard plastic sheeting, also looking for advice on an up to date version of vehicle outlines inc trucks. Any help on a Roland PNC 960 would be useful, been in touch with Roland and have asked them to check out the machine and let me know if anything is on its way out, but as its a little old, info and tips are a bit thin on the ground. Is there any good sites with ideas/finished work that is out of the ordinary?
    Cheers

    Hi and welcome Gaz,

Pretty easy to get a grasp of things here, you just ask and about 20 ppl will reply with the info you need 😀 Looking forward to your input on the boards and good luck with your new venture.

Incidently, has anyone else noticed the huge number of Scotsmen (and Scotswomen) arriving? And not an Angus, Hamish or Caile in sight! 😉 😉

    Cheers, Dewi

Hi Forbie &Dewi. I would have used my birth name but i don’t think you would be able to understand it. I was born in Glasgow during my folk’s holiday from the western isles, so a true islander to heart. Unfortunately my folks moved to the mainland soon after i was born!. Anyway, Nicola, Forfar athletic?, were they not known as the loonies?.Thanks for the info lads, i will have a gander at the sites and see what i can find.
Off to bed now, been up since 03:30 with work this morning.
    Cheers

Hi Gary & John, thanx for making me feel welcome, i have joined other boards and groups but all i ever got from them was a moderator “hello”, nowhere near this groups welcome! I don’t intend to trouble people too much as i am usually stubborn enough to work things out myself, but i will of course ask should i be stuck on something!. Thanks for drawing my attention to the link John, i will have a look shortly. Just gotta get some coffee down my….COFFEE!! did somebody say COFFEE!! oh! it was me! duh, no coffee in the morning makes me like that hehe. cheers all. Gaz

    Hi Gazza

Like the many others before I extend a welcoming hand.
    (hot)

There is no need to fret aver spelling and grammar on UKSB, it’s one of Rob’s rules I have no idea why he dreamed that up.

    Kind regards
