hi folks i had a customer come in this morning asking if i could put a didgy onto a backing board for him as he had been bumed off by a few sign company’s that wouldn’t touch it .Quite honestly i can see why ….i thought it would be a straight forward job but i can only describe the application tape like "blue circle cement "it was like a plastic content to it .This is where my question comes in not knowing to much about the digital print market (as i sub out the stuff i need and just collect) If you apply appli tape on a didgy before it drys and its laminated ….could the paper bond to the lamination and become one .That’s the only way i could describe whats happened here …i socked the thing and the paper seems to have come off in sections but so has the clear stuff in sections …if you get my drift

If its laminated like you say then it would of been dry already it sounds like dodgy application tape to me especially as you say it has a plastic feel to it

If he bought it a year ago, then the shelf life of the vinyl is well past its date. Something has deteriorated, probably the tape, causing it to bond rather too well to the laminate.

    Sell him a new print.

its a paint on laminate, if it was still wet when the app tape was applied then it would stick together.

i was having another look at the appli tape there ….its the usual paper texture on one side but shinny on the other….and about 3 times the thickness 😥 🙄

Paper application tape does not have an applied life of more than a few months Brian. Conform clear is about 12 months maximum if stored properly.

I’d say Andy is spot on. Old application tape bonds really hard over time, and it will be impossible to remove.

If it is yellow it means it has been exposed to heat too, making it worse.

I’d suggest a new print as well 🙄

    Cheers johnnycomelate.com 😉

I reckon Shane was drawn to this topic because he thought it was going to be about didgereedoos.
