  • help with cutlines and strokes

    Hi all,

I’d like to put a stroke around lettering and then set cut lines to the stroke. Im using Adobe Illustrator 12 and the Versacamm software for the Roland sp-30.

Everytime i try to set the cutlines i lose the stroke, obviously i cant have 2 strokes on a letter or object so how do you do it please? And can it be done in Illustrator?

    many thanks

    Dave.

Thanks you Andrew but i didnt get the desired results.

First off im not a sugnwriter, i use the machine for a totally different line of work so please excuse my newbness at not knowing what to do.

I assume i had to convert the letters to outlines first because your instructions were grayed out in Illustrator until i converted them to "Create Outlines"

i then applied a stroke, then did what you said> Object>path>Outline stroke.

I then applied my CutContour stroke to that and reduced it to 0.1 but when i open the letters up in the Versacamm software i see that the cutlines are now around the stroke only. What i wanted was to have the cutlines around the the whole letter and stroke as if it were one, basically one cutline all around the whole thing.

Could you (or anyone else) point out what im doing wrong? Im sure its a small thing as it always is…fingers crossed

    cheers again
    Dave

I think you need to just outline the text not use a stroke. don’t use Illustrator maybe some one else can tell you how.

    Hi Dave,

get it ready as before… but go to…… View……Outline….. after outlined path………then delete what is not required……… then save for cutting

Hi Are you sure that they cut lines aren’t just hidden?

Marquee the lot with the selection tool.

Hope I am understanding the problem. I dint have versacamm.
