  • help with colour differences between 2 roland printers

Hi guys, I wonder if anyone can help….

    I have a versacamm and a grenadier

I’m printing the same image on the same media set up through the same program to both printers and I’m getting quite a large colour variation between the two. Can anyone shed some light on how to get the same results accross the printers?

They are both using versaworks, the only main difference I can see is that the Grenadier has 6 colours (12 really but a double up) and the camm only has 4..

Se attached photo cam on the left, Gren on the right.

The 4 ink cam image on the left is almost an exact replication of the colours on my monitor when printed

any advice would be greatly appreciated

    Regards
    BigMo

although you think you are using the same settings it should be using 2 different profiles.
presume the same inks in both machines.
personally i don’t think you will ever match them perfectly you may get closer but not the same.

Thanks Chris, close would be good as ones red and the others purple….. lol the profiles are slightly different, how do I start getting them closer?

you could try hate saying that as its not a answer but

if the grenadier is wrong then
in VW colour adjustment add cyan a bit and reduce mag a bit
or in edit tone curves select cyan only and bend up about a square.
    try a small test print.

for a similar output quality the grenadier should be printing around 2-3 times faster because there is more head area in use per pass

isn’t the Grenedier a B&P machine which uses different inks – unless you are using Roland inks the profile will not work

Must be Same Rip, Same Profile, Same Computer, Same Ink set to match

Totally agree with Dave. A 6 colour and 4 colour profile will give you very different results.
