  • Help!!! Which kind of vinyl, must be transparent but reduce

    Hello all,

I am not a professional sign maker by any means but have guessed that this is the best place to ask this question, after speaking to some people.

I have a piece of glass… that I would like to be able to see through without catching my reflection.. Now I am looking for some kind of non adhesive film .. maybe static cling that I can apply to it.

For example you I know u get a gloss or a matte finish. So if we imagined the glass to be gloss (i.e. all shiny) can i put something on top to make it sort of matte?

The purpose of the film must not be to blur or block the view in actual fact it should ideally be 100% transparent I just want to reduce the reflections I get off the glass. It really is annoying to get the reflections as the view is fantastic and I can’t take any photos because of the camera’s reflection in the shot, especially at night when the lights inside boost the reflections 🙁

Can anyone recommend or provide me with any ideas as to what material would do the trick? there must be some material out there.

Thanks in advance for all your help guys 🙂

Whatever you apply to the glass is going to cut down on the light transmitted through, therefore affecting the picture. Is there any reason why you cannot just go outside or open the window?

was going to say the same graeme… even through the glass with no film your not going to get as good a shot as you would outside. thats unless your trying to take pictures or video "of inside a room with a view" but not catch your reflection in the glass?

i dont see it being a big deal to get this type of film anyway… johnsons window film or bonwykes will do it. you can get clear matt overlaminates for prints and they are doing the same job?

Mat laminate will reduce the vision considerably, I was thinking on the lines of something like this?

    thanks for the help guys,

It is too far up to open the window, it is also something I need to be able to peel away and take with me to other buildings, so therefore non adhesive would be best.

Can I get something like static cling but with a matte finish and still transparent, it is usually very bright outside ( definitely not in uk! ) therefore I am not so worried about the light loss as long as the picture is still crystal clear.

Can you not get a piece of non reflective picture glass and place it against the window. (?)
