  • Help setting up plotter PLEASE!

I have tried, and tried to install the Mimaki CG-130 FXII, with absolutely no success.

I have uninstalled the driver and re-installed from the Finecut disc, then updated the driver,

installed Finecut for Corel (although I use Signlab, I do have Corel 12)

Installed the plotter in Signlab 9.1 CutPro.

I have re-booted the PC several times, still no joy.

My PC can see the plotter, but from Signlab I get ‘Plotter not installed’, or similar.

Having Googled for most of the evening, it appears to be a common problem, and I am pulling what is left of my hair out!

If anyone has some things I can try, I would be really grateful!

Hi John, I have read that SL sets up it’s own port called External DLL. When I choose the correct plotter from SL choices, ie. CG-130FX11, the port is External DLL.
If I choose any other plotter the port changes, and it wont allow you to alter.

It seems to be more that the plotter isn’t recognised, I get a ‘select plotter’ when I go to cut, then only CG-FX-00 as choice. Select, get ‘Not connected’ message, then ‘No plotter found matching ID in plotter set-up’.

In Devices and Printers on the PC the plotter is called ‘Mimaki CG-FX series’.

I just don’t know what to do to get it talking!

    Lorraine.

Could some kind of virus software affecting the recognition of the plotter. Just an idea.

in Signlab plotter setup click on the port tab and you should be able to select "direct to port" and then select your port from the list.

Never heard of External.dll……..that is a file not a port?

Hi John. No idea what a .dll is, but it is there in the list of ports.

However, I appear to be working, and this is what I did…

    I disabled AVG fully.
I switched the plotter on, and opened Coreldraw 12. Working with the Finecut op. manual I set up the plotter in Corel, and cut a file (whew!).

However, Signlab still said plotter not connected, so after keeping on trying different ways, (plotter name still incorrect) I made a copy of the driver, and re-named it ‘copy of’ and the name the PC wants to give it, which is the same as Corel gave it – there was my clue!
I then sent a small file from Signlab, and it worked! Now I must adjust the settings on the plotter, a job for tomorrow now.

I just hope that now I have put AVG back on that everything will still work tomorrow.

Thanks for the suggestions Michael and John. If I have problems tomorrow, I may be back!
