HELP! Roland ColourCamm PC60 printing bands

This is a classic symptom of the print head being blown.

If you’re really lucky you may find it will restore with a print head clean but more often than not the only cure is a new printhead I’m afraid 🙁

you must make sure that the head is spotless and the cleaning pad.

remove the ribbon from a old black cart.
print a black oblong using this cart about 1×2 ins on to smooth clean, non coated paper.
repeat 2 more times.
refit good black cart and test. on cleaned vinyl.
there are some refill ribbons that leave a very thin skin behind this will clean it up.

my last head came from china, if you know anybody in the states roland USA have them but can not supply you.

Chris – thanks for your advice, I have given it a go, but it looks like I am going to have to bite the bullet and buy a new printer head for it, it was still printing bands and it is now printing a jagged edge on vector images/text! 😮

Paul if you wouldn’t mind letting me have the details of your supplier I would really appreciate it.
