    Hello All

I am hoping that you are able to offer me some advice. I have just bought a second hand Mutoh Rockhopper 1 that is currently running ADO inks. When I ran a few test prints the banding was really bad. I also found that the capping station was soaked with waste ink. I have tried to flush the lines and printheads but for some reason it wont let me. Any help or advice would be most welcome.

    Thanks

    Dave.

I don’t have a rockhopper but know some that do, and you have to be very vigilent with flushing when the unit is not being used for a while.

The ink has probably dried in the lines. Short of paying a technician to come out and give it a full service, you may have difficulty.

I am sure there will be someone here that can help tho.

I use Techink solvent inks on my Roland, they have a version for the rockhopper too, may be worth considering as they are pretty easy to work with.

Sorry could not be more help.

Oh yeah, welcome to the boards too 😀

Hi Dave, your the other person that bought a rockhopper are you!! We have a rockhopper 2 eco-solvent printer which is supposed to be a descendant of the rockhopper 1 but i think it is the same machine with a different badge. anyway we have encountered masses of problems with our machine, but that may just be ours.
The banding problem which i encountered was due to the media feed correction in the software. I set it to around 0.2 which generally is a good start point, and just marginally tweak it from there.
The problem with the waste ink has also dogged us. On each end of the printer there are small spit trays with a small square piece of carbon gauze. I found that i had to change the one on the right near the docking station quite often as it would lead to a build up of ink and cause the ink to mass around it. I run the cleaning process quite often, you get the option of little, normal or powerful. i tend to use powerful a couple of times just to clean out the lines.
Have you tried to empty the heads and lines using the ink dump facility on the control panel?

Also what software are you running with the printer?

    Andy
