Help on SP300v Stopping During Print
Posted by Adam Randell on 24 January 2012 at 20:28I have an image that is around 700mm x 500mm and every time i try to print, it stops at different intervals. Sometimes 10%, sometimes almost 50%.
Im running a Roland SP300V on VersaWorks, 4GB ram on Windows XP (the computer is seeing 3.4gb ram)
Anyone got any advice?

does your PC hibernate etc, go into settings and ensure that everything is set to constant on. Also start up Task Manager & see how much memory, CPU is being usedKev

Kev,
thanks for the response. I am printing the photo as we speak, and I have 2.7gb RAM free.
The monitor goes off after 10 minutes but hibernate etc is all turned off. I have set the monitor to stay on 24/7 so will see how goes.

Is it just this image or have you had the same problem with other files?

If you have a Anti Virus program running.. try turning it off

I’m not sure if your RIP will support it but try setting it to RIP then print rather than RIP and print. It gives the printer a little bit less to do at any one time.
It can be difficult for a RIP to do the interpreting, ripping and sending all at the same time, particularly if it’s a complicated PDF. Other than that, I’d look at your interface if it’s random. Maybe try a different USB port of IP address.
Good luck.

Empty your jobs queue after you have finished printing, that also makes a difference.

Thought you should only use 2 gig of ram with XP as it can’t see more than that unless you are including the page file. Leads to confusion apparently.

Hi I had this problem & found answer in ‘Computer Active’ mag go to prnwatch.com download free program ‘prio’ & install, this allows you to set the priority to high of your RIP so other processes don’t interfere with its running.
With RIP running Ctrl + Alt + Delete brings up ‘windows task manager’ right click RIP in application ‘go to process’ ‘set priority’ select ‘high’ there should be a tick beside save priority if not select it close task manager. Your RIP will now have 1st use of your PC. When you have some time make a note of all the processes normally running & check them using Google, see if any are rouge I’m sure you’ve already done a ‘spyware’ check they can really slow things down.
