Why do you need it as an eps to go in to Signlab?

I’ve tried this and it doesn’t work.

Are you trying to vectorise it?

Maybe I don’t need it as a eps but I need some form of file to cut it in signlab at the moment I have it as a jpeg or pdf, no sure what to do, all I want is a picture of some swirly waves simply to cut on vinyl plotter for someone car!!! and it is turning into a nightmare!

    Hi Hayley

Did the file I emailed you not work?

Hayley, it sounds like you are trying to make something more complicated than it is, plus Signlab just can’t do it that way. You would have to import the photo and vectorise it, then pick of the vectors you need.
A simpler way might be to import the photo, drag a corner to enlarge it a bit, then select the node edit tool and add notes over the top following the lines you are trying to achieve. Join the 2 end nodes together, scale it as required and you will have a solid cuttable vector.

If you’re still unsure, in Signlab press F1 on the keyboard and go from there.

Hi Hayley, just sent you another email & .svg file, maybe that will work. Your version of SL is very early, I believe, and is probably the reason why you are having trouble.

Hi Hayley, if you want to be sure of getting the file into Signlab 5.0 have it saved as AI (Illustrator 88 format). All Illustrator versions can save in historical formats.

Do old versions of Illustrator support bit maps? ie if you export a bitmap from Corel as Illustartor 88 you will save part of it as eps and that eps needs to go into SL . If it is a bitmap I would export as tif or jpg and import that. Late version of Illustrator will include the bitmap but may not be supported by SL.

    Hi Hayley
    I have Signlab ES2 :lol1:
I import jpegs most of the time.
Then convert to monochrome, trace and Ta-da, you’re done 😀
Whether that’s the correct way or not though, is another matter 😳

    Welcome to the boards Ray,
Maybe a little intro in the "say hello" section to tell people a bit about yourself. 😉

Peter, you mean there’s a Signlab user who doesn’t know Ray. 😀
