Could anybody please help out with a roland fj52 converted to run eps solvent ink i have just bought. The fj will be used in a home environment until i can afford to rent space so i want to change to eco-sol max.Help with the following please
1 The firmware on the fj is v.4.1 do i need to update this
2 The software i have is easysign v4.5 in the printer setup on this software it does not list a fj52 converted is there another roland model a could use in the setup.I may buy flexisign 8.1 software i have seen for sale does anybody know if it is listed in there printer set and if not which model would i use, and is this a better software for the fj than my easysign 4.5
3 I have been on the roland site but been unable to find the profiles for the eco-sol max to match printer.

Many Thanks In advance For any info.
ps the fj was sold to me flushed with solvent

If you bought this from ebay then it was already running eco solvent inks and the seller should have given you details where they got their inks, try victory design 😉

If you bought the software from them as well then ask them how it was set up as they should already have done this.

You won’t find any software that will list a converted printer as anything other than what it was originally manufactured as.
Flexisign will cost you about 3 grand or so as it’s one of the most expensive sign programs available.

If you pop into the hello section and introduce yourself and tell people a little about yourself you will find you get more help on the forum.

The person who sold me the printer told me it had been converted by victorydesign, says victorydisign and ecojet on printer they told me they also bought there ink from victory but it was running eps .Since i bought it i have found out this is not the best ink to use in a home environment so i want to change to digitl evosol ink. I was supplied with old victory profiles but the new ink supplier has told me i need new profiles Thanks for the advice i will pop in and introduced myself

I don’t own a printer but know this machine was running some sort of eco solvent inks and wouldn’t think there was much difference between any of the eco solvent inks on the market. No solvent/eco solvent machine is really good for the home environment especially with the amount they need to be run to stop the inks drying up in the heads.
Your new ink supplier should be able to provide you with profiles suitable for use with their inks.

I spoke with the people you bought the machine from as I was interested myself which is why I know what inks and software it was running.

We used to convert Roland FJ52’s and CJ500’s to solvent printers years ago (in fact, I believe we were among the first in the country to do so). We called ours a Jetsolver. I believe B&P followed closely behind with the Resolve so if you see either of those names on any software then you should be OK in terms of the driver. As far as profiles are concerned, that’s really the responsibility of the ink supplier. RIP manufacturers tend to shy away from profiling 3rd party inks as it has potential for ruining relationships with hardware manufactures such a Roland.

I know Shiraz has drivers for a Jetsolver, CJ500 and FJ52, I would imagine that any RIP that’s been updated in the last 10 years would have FJ52 and CJ500 drivers (CJ500 was just an FJ52 with a cutter on the side).

Also, give Nazdar/Lyson a call as I think they produce their own ink for early Roland printers too.
