Hi peoples, I’m just re doing a sign for a local company, the composite material that it’s currently on is in really good shape, however there are some white streaks running down it, probably from an inferior vinyl or something.

I can seem to clean it off no matter what I use, I even tried cillit bang! lol

anyone got any tips for getting these stains off?

    Cheers
    Big Mo

    hi mo
are the streaks coming from a bolt hole if so i thing you are stuck with them.
else could try t cut on the assumption that the board is knackered anyway.
flood coat it or bin job

evenin Chris, no it’s coming from the old vinyl that was on the board…. seems tro have powderised and stained the board, it polishes up lovely but you can still see the white streaks stained, it’s almost as if they are under the surface

save your time and money…just flood coat it and be done with trying to fix it!

if a chemical has run from the fixings which has been caused by a reaction to general exposure to the elements. then you may have an accelerated faded panel in the areas of where the substances has run. if not where its fixed, then drips from higher up or whatever….

this is not your problem. its your customers. but they MUST decide, new panel or amended panel. either way, yuoi MUST charge for this and cover your costs… with profit added!

Chers for pointers guys, it’s just a job on an industrial estate board, removal of one company, replaced with 2 others. I charged a good fee for it, had to include removal of board, old vinyl etc, I also allowed for any fixings that could have been broken when removed if they where old etc.

I didn’t have to clean the board, and to be honest it’s not that bad, but we just like to do things properly, if that means taking a bit of time to restore the board to it’s former glory then so be it. It’s already 100% better than it was, guess I’m a bit too picky some times. But at the end of the day, it’s my work and rep thats up on that board now.

Also it’s a new customer (potentially a big one too as its a large site and the company has 2 others that they own and maintain) so I always like to set a good first impression. It’s not holding up production or anything.

As you can see it’s nearly 3am and I’m still working on a wrap that has to be out Monday…. ah the perks of no restrictions on your workshop hours, and living less than 20 feet away helps…lol

    2 days rest after this…

    Thanks again guys
