Hello from Scotland
Hi Everyone,
I made the decision to start up my own sign writing business at the tail end of last year, but am just about getting round to it now. It was about then I found this forum and I can only say that you have all built a great wee community here. The forum has been most useful in doing my research so far, I have learned a lot about what I about to embark upon. So it’s about time I stopped lurking in the background and said hello to everyone.
This is going to start off as a part time evening business for me, to fit around my day job in IT. The key is that I can do most of the work at home and it will be small enough (to start with anyway) to give me the flexibility I need to work round a young family and crucially, provide some extra income! Once established though, I’m hoping to grow this into a full time family business.
I’m based in Elderslie, famous as the birth place of William Wallace, just down the road from Glasgow (south west) for those not familiar with the area. I’m looking to start off with a Graphtec CE5000-60 (having ruled out the cheap import alternatives) and the plan is to do vehicle graphics and signs…not that I can say what exactly I’ll offer in that region, but hopefully everything I get asked to do! Simple stuff to start with but who knows where this will lead. I’ve got a tiny smidgen of experience in as much I’m friendly with a chap in who does this on the same part time basis and I’ve helped him out doing the graphics on a few race cars, my own included. That aside I’m open to all of the advice, help and words of wisdom I can get.
Cheers
Baz
