Hi just found this forum and thought i’d better register.

Names Matt and have been making signs for about 11 years.

Work for a small family owned company and make signs for most of the large civil engineering companies.

Been in my current job about 6 years and for the last two been the screen printer.

Not sure on the rules but our biggest customer is an Irish named firm beginning with M and ending in Y.

I don’t think there is a sign we can’t produce and I could say with certianty that most if not all of you have seen one of my signs.

My claim to fame is having one of my signs appearing on top gear and of course I have the screen caps!

    Reconigse these guys?

    Trying to use this sign!

Anyway thats enough for now lol,

looking forward to chatting to some likeminded signmakers.

Welcome to the boards Matt, good to have you here mate.

On a side note, the parking signs, who designs these types of signs for your company, and is there a format you must follow?
the one in the picture, difficult to see, but is that "ties" coming out the face to the rear?

We design them in house but have guidelines to follow. The one in the picture was a batch of 10mm correx temporary ones which have since been replaced buy permanent Ali ones.

Yes they are cable tied although the Ali ones are always channeled and affixed with sign clips.

I mean no disrespect here, but the reason I mentioned about the design / layouts is I am often a tad well… disgruntled by the general layout and designs of Signage like this. As i said, im not blaming you or the company you work for as its wide spread and doesnt come from the one source. hense why i asked if it was designed in house or provided by the roads departments.
I know specific fonts, colours, font size and more are all stipulated by the traffic department, i am just amazed at how little effort goes into properly laying out signage like this. after all, font sizes, colours etc all come into play because the department have specified all these things to ensure signage to be clear and easily read. which is perfectly acceptable, but for it to then be presented in this fashion, which just looks like a typed passage with return hit eash line, well… beats the purpose. throw in the taxes paid for regualted signage and it just bugs me, is all…

ok ok, ill get off my soap box, as i said mate, this isnt directed at "you". i simply wanted to ask the question seeing as your company is one of many that produces thes types of signage.

Well they come from the regs book chapter 8 we can only adjust the dimensions. Tbh of all the signs I make they are not very high on the list of the signs I dislike.
