Hi again all! On some media I get head strikes at the edges of the media and every now and then in the middle on my sp300v. I have tried no heat at all so its not that. When I got the machine it had no media clamps. Will they sort this problem? also just wondered if anybody could tell me which way around the pinch rollers go (so I can rule that out) I believe the left and right rollers are tapered to stretch the media out. Mine have the bigger diameter on the outside and the smaller diameter on the inside. Could somebody have a look at theres and tell me if this is correct. Thanks.

Your pinch rollers are correct. You will definitely need media clamps both the long ones and the short ones. They will stop head strikes on the edges.

They have now been ordered. What do you use the long ones for? Thanks

It can also help prevent strikes if you unwind some of the media from your roll before printing

I haven’t used the media clamps in donkeys – tend to find that buckling is either temperature or vacuum power not being sufficient to keep the media flat. If the media is damaged on the ends then clamps are essential.

Is it one particular media or all that do this? The clamps won’t prevent strikes in the middle so I’d be adjusting the temp and vacuum first.

Think I have solved my problem. The print heads were to close to the media. I lifted the carriage up but then I got a lot of shadowing. So I lowered it until it went away and now no head strikes and great prints. Thanks for all the help again!
