I`ve recently bought an Epson Stylus Photo 1400 with a sublimation bulk ink system setup. I use it nearly every day and found it to give excellent prints.
Nearly every time before I use the printer I have to do a Head clean because one of the colours are not coming through.
Am I damaging the machine by these repeated daily head cleans?

Heads cleaning should not damage the print head as far as I know……but it does use/waste a lot of ink.
A head clean everyday seems excessive.is it always the same colour?

    Hi John,
Yes it seems to be the cyan or light cyan. But it could be all of them . The print comes out a little reder than it should.
I had a thought after I made the post. The printer is turned off over night. Maybe if I leave it on the print head will stay warm and the ink wont dry.

I always print a nozzle check before I print…saves waiting ink and possibly blanks….this will also tell you exactly which colour is giving you a problem.
Strange as the only times I have had to do a head cyan it was Cyan that was not firing cleanly.
I know that when you switch on the printer does a self test which uses ink.

    Hi!
Have you profiled your printing substrate or using the correct profile? If you haven’t then these might be the answer to your troubles my friend.

Thanks for the advice. Its the cyan that wasnt fireing cleanly. The last week I have used the printer and all is well. All guns fireing. I have done nothing to the printer except use it 2 or 3 times a day. Maybe its because the printer is new and needed running in.
The profile and inks are correct. Sawgrass. so should be ok.
    Prints beautifully. Really strong colours.
    Thanks Earl
