has anyone tried any intercoat products

i am guessing from memory here that intercoat is manufactured in the USA? i really don’t have any experience with it other than someone we know brought in a container load of the stuff years ago and we bought a roll to try it out. i do not know the series we used but was told it was equivalent to what we used back then and that was mactac 9800. which would be 5-7 year calendar back then, anyway, the vinyl was crap… we never took anymore.
as i said, this was a long time ago and the person was a supplier of cutters and the like but branching into vinyls…

i was more looking at their digital print film. but they also make cut vinyl film.

do you think it is the same stuff??

I’ve used the 1490 that’s the polymeric one, it printed superb, I have also samples the vehicle wrap which printed again superbly and finished off with the crystal clear laminate looked the dogs…..!

I have also used the 1430 80 micron monomeric, very nice soft film and again superbly prints, its fantastic to just put the material in the machine and it works, the other thing I found as a good selling point wast eh fact it was fully recyclable, some of my larger customers were particularly interested in this.

i would guess not then mate, the guy specifically said it was manufactured in america. however, i could be still wrong, but still think it was called "intercoat". it was definately cut vinyl because thermal and solvent printers where not available at the time. at least not to the sign trade…
was around the time roland had the little wax ribbon machines on the go… 😀

Dave, I have been looking into this with other suppliers of vinyl. are you saying the liner/ carrying paper is recyclable also?

we use oracal 751 cast for virtually everything, have done about 7 years now. oracal digital for printing.
we do use other brands to conform to certain specifications and specials though…

Everything is environmentally friendly, I have actually spoken to Intercoat confirm, I have used many other digital vinyls but I like this one the best, it is just so easy to use, but every one has their own likes and dislikes.

I have a Roland 540 it almost 4 years old now, but it prints as good as they day I had it, I have only had to have one new head in it, Light Cyan!

Their UV protective laminates are also environmentally friendly!

Most things get better with age and if it was before digital then it was a long time ago!

The 9600 series has now got a new flexible face film and it is superb, thats the 60 micron polymeric and there are a few more new colours, there have also been some new colours added to the 9700 range, thats the 70 micron film, overall I am very impressed.

I am not sure if the coloured material vinyl is recycleable but I will find out if you are interested.

used intercoat about 10 years ago and still today looking good on the vehicles we did i personally found this film way above average quality
i would use it again all the best

The liner is recyclable but the pigment that is in the PVC is not, so ive been lead to believe

I must say that the new face film used in the 3800 and the 9600 is really nice to work with

i have been looking into this and from the suppliers i use that are actively promoting their new list of green products, they have told me that the carrying paper cannot be recycled due to the silicon film on the paper that prevents the vinyls adhesive tacking to the lining paper.
are you saying your carrying paper is different and can be recycled? but the vinyl cannot?

i will check with my suppliers regarding the recyclble story.

It has not much of an issue here so it has never been brought up in conversation.

Ill give them a call on monday for you.
