    Hi

Has anyone swopped to the new 440ml cartridges of ink yet?

We’ve heard mixed views regarding them, we might have to swop soon due to the shortage of 220ml Magenta carts, none available anywhere.

Anyone else got the same problem??

We had to switch to the large carts last week and it was a complete night mare. You will have to upgrade the firmware on the JV3 to accept the new carts. That on its own presents problems as it knocks the head alignment out & needs to be reset by an engineer. You also can’t run a mixture of the old and new carts, it is all or nothing. Because of the problems in sorting these issues out we lost 2 days of printing time. B&P really struggled to get us up and running but we got there in the end. In a few more days I will be able to look back and laugh but not quite yet. Good luck with your change over. 😉

all i can say on the subject is that the new carts are fine. i have upgraded around 15 to the new setup now and only experienced 1 problem, which was my fault as i sent the wrong firmware to the machine(160sp to 160s).

as far as the heads being missaligned afterwards i am sceptic. this should not be the case. also if the heads need aligning by an engineer after then the heads must have had a phisical knock. in my expierience you dont even have to do the bi directional head hieght adjustment tests after the upgrade.
    possible porkies from your supplier.

Actually, it depends on the firmware version of the printer your are upgrading. Most of the later machines are fine, but if you have a JV3 with really early firmware, the head alignment settings are lost when you upgrade the firmware, and need to be redone. Most machines are OK though.
