Saw the versa-art at Roland’s HQ in Bristol yesterday…..

Absolutely amazing piece of kit for the money, in my opinion

If I had the option of the versa art at the time I got my VP540, I’d have gone for the versa art.

They have some kind of new technology that puts down a small "filler" pass of ink that eliminates banding……

    Giveaway price as well.

I expect there’ll be a waiting list for this machine soon.

Go and see it if you’re in the market for a printer.

    Cheers
    Joe

    Thanks for the replies,

From the sales pitch/literature and price, it does look an attractive prospect.

I look forward to seeing it working at TPE

Does any1 know, can you use 3rd party ink on this machine or do you need to use chips?

Saw this machine at our Visual Impact exhibition. You can’t go wrong with this machine. Great quality great speeds great price. Not much you can ask for in terms of an entry level printer.

Might need to add one of these to our lineup soon as well.

the price actually went up over a month ago, due to exchange rate etc.I’m sure you could do a deal at this time of year and in this climate….

John it doesnt matter, if you are vat registered or not, if you cant claim it back, then you dont have to charge it, so cutting the overall cost of administration. it usually works out even, you cant have your cake and eat it though, there are advantages to not being vat registered….

but then it doesnt cost anything to register for vat, and you can claim it all back,

Peter.if you buy a printer and are vat registered you clam the vat back.if you are not vat registered you cannot…the printer yesterday would have cost me 17.5% more than it would for you….today the difference is 15%.

You still claim it back even if your not registered. When your tax is calculated its just a dearer business expense. I’am allowed £100 expenses and you are allowed £117 Expenses. What you pay out for something is tax deductable.

    Yes john,
your printer will be cheaper, but more expensive than a vat reg person would pay. but now the vat registered person is also selling the product cheaper because the vat has gone down, so the net result is the same for any business.
    vat registered or not.

Youdon’tt have to charge your retail customers the vat, so you can in effect be more competetive than I, so like I said it doesnt really matter,
thats why i said you cant have your cake, and eat it.

my main point was it was promoted at £10999 and has only just been released in the last few weeks and has already gone up 4.5%

I am not VAT registered and would have paid £12648.85 (@17.5%)

I now would have to pay £13223.85 (@15%)

That is £300.02 more than I would have paid a few weeks ago. 😕

Looking in to it at the moment, I don’t think it would have been beneficial before so am now looking in to it as business picks up. Haven’t had any large purchases yet but who knows 😉

I’m sure you can still claim it back if you decide to register later Warren (was the case when we registered).

    Warren
have a general chat with Malcom at Signmaster you might be surprised at what you can afford and a lease purchase is better than outright purchase.

What I an saying in context,
the vat rate going down, does not affect anyone who deals mainly business to business, as most of us on the boards do, it is the same if you are vat registered or not,

Businesses that sell mainly to the public, in essence have the opportunity to reduce their prices, but I doubt if this will happen.

we seem to have two threads going down the same road.
    😥

i sorta remember the slight increase being spoke about at Roland warren…
i think they said there maybe a rise in price to us but was something they were trying to avoid.
i am being vague as I’m not 100% sure if it was Roland or another supplier i am getting mixed up with but think it was Brett that was talking about it.
at the end of the day everything is going up at the moment, we saw a few vinyl cutting suppliers raise their prices as has most other sign products, this is no different i guess.
doesn’t help matters i know, but just mentioning the above as i don’t think it was a marketing move, just sods law the increases came about at the time of launch.

just a quick comment on the machine… i think the RS-640 is a damn good bit of kit. the cost just puts the cherry on the cake for this level of printer.
