haven’t tried them but seen various deals they do and all seem extremely competitive, even as a trade supplier. i vaguely remember being told they are part of a much larger company some place in Europe or maybe USA really not sure. so would tend to mean they aren’t just delving in with ridiculous prices and disappearing tomorrow the way many do. (how much of that is true though i really do not know, maybe just gossup)
as you say though, would be interesting to see the quality of their hardwear as well as the prints etc. but based on a "like for like" basis…

    best of luck. 😀

I’ve taken the gamble, the price was just too darn good! I hope I don’t have to learn the hard way! I’ll let you know the verdict when they arrive. 😕

    Hey Christina,

I have used them twice. I have never seen the goods as they have been shipped direct to customers on both occasions.

Difficult to comment but both times we had the customer come back with issues. These were pop up banners. The first time though they were the cheapest disposable ones so wasn’t surprised there were issues.

The second customer the customer said they were not as good as our previous ones we supplied which came from another supplier. The second lot were one of the higher specs.

Not sure id use them again may try for other banners etc but love to hear what you think of them.

    Good luck.

I had heard that Giga print here are basically an agent so all jobs are sent abroad for output in warehouses full of printers which handle jobs globally. Don’t know if its true but sounds impressive if it is.
I use Venture Banners for Banners – Best digital for direct to substrate and Print United for Roll up banners I’ve got no complaints with these suppliers.

Alan, the turnaround is too quick for it to be anywhere outside of UK.

Are Venture good? im sure they are actually just an agent because they don’t allow us to collect so we have never used them.

I believe Venture Banners are an agent, they are also known as clearview banners which was located at a private address.
venture banners has a unit which i have been past but i dont think any printing goes on there.

Fair enough Peter, could well be the case but we had one banner arrive in 4 days including the day of order and the day it arrived pretty quick turnaround from Europe to the Highlands, with a very low delivery price I never saw the paperwork so can comment on where it came from.

If they do come from outside the UK WE DEF WONT USE THEM again for sure, I like my money kept in the UK wherever possible for a couple of quid, something everyone should be thinking about, help get the country working/thriving again!!

Nigel, I’m sure we would all like our money kept in the UK but in reallity most stuff comes from abroad, from the van you use to the plotter/printer, the inks and the media you print on and even the software we use. That said even if these places are just agents they are in the UK employing UK staff and paying UK tax. When there is competition it is for UK industry to compete and provide the goods and services customers want and not just get a sympathetic nod, what we need though is for governments to make sure there is a level playing field for our industry so we can compete and that means not being taxed to the hilt and our fuel and power prices not through the roof.

Gigaprint are based in Slough and run 42 large format HP machines, an Australian backed company.

:police: Please take a moment to look over our Board Rules.

Thanks everyone for your posts. Looks like I had a lucky escape, a friend of mine said that Gigaprint used economy material and was below standard. That with Nigel’s post was enough to put me off. Luckily I had not paid yet so was able to stop the order. Went with Venture Banners in the end. Thanks for the tip Alan. They arrive tomorrow, looking forward to seeing the quality. Thanks once again for the comments everyone.

I have used Gigaprint for some cheap ‘disposable’ pop up banners delivered straight to my customers, I just emailed print ready artwork to them……..my customers ordered again so must have been happy.

The Gigaprint.co.uk website states that urgent orders can be collected ‘within hours’ so production seems at least in part to be in the UK

I have always dealt with Anita Wong, who was highly efficient, their stand at last years SignUK appeared to have exclusively Oriental staff.

Glad you’re sorted Christina, let us know what your impression was of the banners – good/bad/as expected. It would be interesting to build a table of who offers what in relation to quality and price. I have no doubt that those of you who do banners in house can set your machines for higher quality but can you compete (or would you want to) to some of these trade houses.

As promised the feedback on the roll up banners…

The ink has bled and the print was grainy. It’s a 5/10

It’s not major, but I was disappointed as I know how good these prints can look. I have printed them before when I used to have a printer so I know it definitely was not the artwork.

I explained to the guy there that it looked like the media profile was not correct and sent some pictures, although I’m not expecting a refund.

I ordered some correx from them before I got these back so I wonder if they will be any better, I don’t hold out much hope.

It’s another case of you get what you pay for. I’m so eager to find a decent print company. The expense, headache and space required for running a printer has put me off even looking to invest again.

It would be good if we could find a company between us where quality and price were reasonable. Maybe I’ll give gigaprint a shot after all, but the order process did seem a bit long winded (fax order/bank transfer/ftp artwork/fax payment from bank transfer/confirm artwork) or is that just me. I’m quite disorganised myself. I run my business from home whilst running around after my toddler, so need a company that can take orders/payment over the phone.

I’ll keep looking. Discount Displays sent through some lovely looking samples yesterday. I’ll give them a go next I think.

    Hi,

the order process was one of the things that impressed me! it was extremely quick and very organised. Leaves no room for error.

Bear in mid re quality the first time I bought a very budget banner, the second time a bit better but there were better ones yet. The customers did say by the way when they first got them they looked fab so im taking it the print was fine, the issues came with curling edges and mechanism problems from memory. There are options for anti curl too though.

Gigaprint have a standard product at a standard price with a standard 4 day delivery. other higher quality products and quicker delivery are available outside the standard service. Most banners are printed at 360dpi and the better quality at 720dpi but still very cheap. 42 printers in Australia Slough and Hong Kong. 3 large format in Slough. Up to 3200mm wide on PVC. Quick , efficient, and cost effective.

Christina – before I got my printer I used to sub out locally (firstly to a graphics company latterly to another board member) or you could get a few reccomends on here from someone to use via courier but I always found having someone local you could drop a file into/discuss/collect was a more controlled experience from the purchasers point of view.

Ive used Venture banners a few times when ive not had the time to print. The quality has been fine for what they were needed for but if i wanted much better quality id do it myself.

Depends on time and what else is on.

Just had the samples through of their 5mm / 3mm direct to substrate foamex through and im tempted to try them in the future as the price is fantastic.

All in all ive had a good customer experience upto now with them.

Just a quick post to say the quality of the printed correx from Venture Banners was spot on. The boards were packaged really well too. So a big thumbs up. Just had some banners done with Print Designs, I would definitely recommend them on price and quality. Their delivery time was quicker than expected too.

Hi John – would love to find a local company who could compete with the price of the likes of Venture.

I got those samples too Gareth, I would definitely use Venture for correx and foamex again.
