Most software will allow you to use registration marks, you cut your separate layers of vinyl, measure and apply the first layer and the line up the reg marks to apply the second layer. If you don’t have specific reg marks you can just draw wee crosses or similar and use these.

Basically set up graphic as you want it and add the marks, duplicate it and from each set delete a different colour, then cut both and apply…

I’ve had a beer or two, hope that make sense! (I think there is a demo on the site?)

another point Alan is to use clear application tape….is so much easier when lining lettering and shadows up

Alan, lots of different ways this can be done, one way would be to use registration marks as Gavin has said, another way would be to use clear application tape so you can see through it to position the top graphic/text.
Easiest way I find is with clear tape but a lot of people don’t like it and won’t use it.
If you were using a paper tape you could also trim up to the edge of the vinyl in a couple of places and then measure, kind of hard to explain and I am not sure if I can put up a picture which would explain better.
