Has anyone got any experiance in applying vinyl to boat sails or boat Ribs?

If so what vinyl would you reccomend, I was thinking of truck vinyl for the flexibility. But the ribs are being inflated and deflated all the time and the sails are going up and down all the time.

Any pearls of wisdom would be appreciated

Have a word with Pinnel & Bax in Northamptonshire. We used to cut lettering for them from their own material. Like a self adhesive fabric called Dacron. Sorry I don’t have contact info for them.

    Hi Lorraine

Have been asked the same question by one of our customers today. Phone Europoint in Bristol and they have advised that the Banner Vinyl 451 should be suitable. But as they said, do a test first and only on the smooth side. Ian, my contact did know of a product that is used for sails, but could not rember the name.

If I get any more info. I’ll post it.

    Regards
    Lee

    Hi Again

Have found a company who sell’s a product called ‘Insignia Polyester’. They only sell to trade?? and do not do ‘cash’ sales. The product is normally sold as rolls of 1370mm wide x 45.7m at a cost of £6.50 per metre – retails at £11.38 per metre – and some time they will sell a 10m roll. The company who can supply this is called ‘Bainbridge’ in Southampton on 0870 4640000

    Hope this helps

    Regards
    Lee
