Posted by Jill Marie Welsh on 24 November 2004 at 22:29

    Hello all.
I know it’s not Thanksgiving over there, but I just wanted to say
that I am thankful for your friendship and fellowship.
Now I’m gonna make my pies, an apple, a cherry, a mincemeat for Mom,
and two pumpkins. We have ’em for breakfast! Then comes the turkey.
We have the big feast at about 1pm. I make mine Pittsburgh Style.
    Love….Jill 😉

    Hi Jill, happy tg.

I don’t know what Pitsburgh style is, but I did here about New Orleons(?) style on the Radio today- ie Deep fried turkey??? aparently you have to fry it for so long, to cook it through, that the outside is dry and hard while the bit in the centre is lovely. Is it me or does this sound like a good way of wasting good food???

    Thanks folks.
Lee, you are TOO much! I about wet my pants here.
The turkey is in the oven, the pies are ready,
    my house smells real good.
I have had deep-fried turkey and it was just awful.
The skin was hard as and old callous, and the meat was still pinkish- ewww.
Stevo is still up in Edmonton, but hopefully by next year he will be here.
Then I’ll need to make 1 more pie, a lemon meringue, his favorite.
Canada does celebrate Thanksgiving, but it is in October.
    Here’s a pic of the pies. Love….Jill

The pies are almost gone (urp)
The only casualty of the day was my cell phone.
Somehow it managed to fall into the turkey juice in the pan
as my son was carving the bird.
Any remedies for a greasy cell phone?
I took it apart and have been letting it dry out overnight,
but I think it’s pretty much toast.
Just bought the damn thing too, but I don’t think I got a warranty.

Is it just the casing Jill, or are the electronic gubbins covered in turkey blubber as well?

    Cheers, Dewi

I thought it was just the casing till I opened it up and took out the battery.
It was all icky inside. I wiped it out as best as I could.
I dried it out overnight, all taken apart, and put it back together, but still nuthin,
altho it does light up now when I open it (It’s an LG flip-fone)
    No display.
I called Verizon and I don’t have insurance, but they can replace the phone for $19.99.
Good thing, too, Weezer might snatch it and run off to gnaw on it,
as it retains a stong turkey scent.
    Love….Jill

Aww bless Jill ……. I dropped mine in the washing up bowl once, it never recovered and the phone-docs could not fix it, it was only three weeks old and water damage was not covered 👿 🙁 I now keep my phone well away from sink areas …. although when Ethan does get hold of it and has a good chew as hes teething it does get a bit of dribble :lol1:

I don’t know what to be more shocked at, a new mobile phone for the equivelant of a tenner, or Carrie being in the vicinity of a washing up bowl!!! 😮 😮 I always thought you’d be a automatic dishwasher owner or have shares in the local paper plate manufacturers 😉

Mind you, hands that do dishes…..

(I’m running now, you know where I live! (splat) )

:lol1: :lol1: Oi you Mr Dewi .. cheeky!!!!!! It was in the days before we had a dishwasher, although Im back to washing up in the sink again at the moment while Steve relocates the dishwasher, which has so far taken a week 🙄

I will admit though in my younger days :lol1: when I first left home and had my own place and didnt have a lot of crockery and cuttlery I used to use anything I could to avoid washing up … I would eat my cereal out of a mug with a fork …… 😳 Im too honest for my own good!!! :lol1: Im sure others have done the same or even worse???

Yes Dewi, I know where you live, I have your number, I could arrive at any moment (mwhhaaa mwhaaa) !! 😉 :lol1: or next time you might even get ME on the phone …. calm down Dewi, deep breaths :lol1:

Im losing it!!! Its a Friday night thingy!!

Nah, it was perfectly synchronised and timed, its a military operation everytime I pickup the phone :lol1: :lol1: Yep, and Father Christmas is delivering my shop signs on a motorbike now :lol1: :lol1:

The thing about being young is the interesting diets, who can forget cornflake and tomato sauce butties… I only had the other night, so it’s unlikely I’d forget :vomit:

Better a closet font spotter than a closet barfer,
I saw that on a TV documentary once and it was just nasty.
This bulemic chick saved all her upchuck in Tupperware.
Too gross! Poor thing, I shouldn’t seem so insensitive.
She should have just put it in her Wheelie Bin….
    OOPS wrong thread.
