This Pub swing sign is quite large say 4′ x 3′ the sign is starting to detoriorate and we need to sort it out before it falls, would you guys feel comfortable hanging to the existing framework and is there somewhere I can buy a readymade blank like this with the necessary fixings or do I need to make from raw materials and if so where could I get new brackets etc.

Sorry if wrong forum please move

    Thanks in advance for looking

    John 😀

Most likely been made for the job, you could get a local fab shop to make one.
try looking for farm/agricultural engineers etc, they tend to be cheaper than engineering shops.

    Ashby do brackets 36" wide
    here
    http://www.ashbytrade.net/nx01/index.php?cat=projecting&page=hanging_brackets

    also
    ironsigns
    here

    As for boards
Ironsigns can supply moulded or 19mm foam board.

I have also used Tradesignz for 19mm foam board with bonded in attachment points.
I think the foam board is Ok for plain basic signs but the moulded boards would give a cleaner smarter look.

Otherwise as Stephen has said a local fabrication shop will make bracket and a frame for a wood or foam board of any dimensions.

    Try Jag Trade Supplies
    Link to the bracket

Their brochure (page 5) also shows ready made signs just like the picture above, but I cannot see them show them on their web site.

Number 08005999059 ring them and ask about the service

Looking at the picture john ide say the projecting bracket could do with a buff down and re-paint. it also has stabilising legs on a projector that is swinging. so no realy wind load. so i would imagine it solid enough. (as i said, just going by the pictures)

if you wanted to give him something in iron that looks that little bit more modern then there is also this option for a ready made one.

edit- just noticed Stuart has offered the iron signs link too. :lol1:

yes thanks guys regarding Iron signs i was aware of them but thought their standard brackets werent that big.

Rob thanks for your thoughts – pretty much what I was thinking, we will check the existing metalwork visually and with a bit of a manual shake nothing too technical and if it feels good we will rub down and hammerite before replacing the sign.

Should we get council permissions to erect scaff tower – I guess so, what do you guys do?
