hand painted signage: Kiss the Frog

Looks the biz Neil,

How do you set up for something like that? Is it freehand, or do you use a mask of some sort? Also if a may ask, did you paint it before mounting? I guess you did because of the panel,
But just wondering what is the norm for something like this.

Thanks Peter,

Yes it’s all freehand, mostly, I mark top and bottom lines and rough out the lettering in stabilo pencil then hit it with a No. 8 chisel brush. The strap line is done using a little cheat, I ran fine line tape first top and bottom so i didn’t have to cut in those edges, just go over the tape and pull it off to reveal crisp edges.
Painted in my workshop then fixed to existing fascia and with the weather being what it was I was happy to be inside.

doe’s that make it harder for you being left handed ? we only do vinyl and are both right or some times both handed you know for squeegeeing and stuff, my niece is left handed she had a problem with weeding to start with, until she found her own way instead of trying to copy me !!

Hiya! nice job! Have you used marine ply for any of your signs? I ask because at the moment I use far eastern exterior ply and I was wondering if it was worth the extra money? Im a right handed paint junkie! 😎

I’m a rightie but I know that for some reason a lot of poster writers were left handed

As for the low tack I run my finger carefully down the adhesive side just to take the grab outta it (only when the paint is suspect)

AaaH a proper job ….in paint
nice one neil the cutouts always add a nice touch
Are you using far eastern or birch ply ,I solely use birch now as the
other was getting unrealiable plus the birch comes in bigger panel sizes
bit dearer but worth the investment

Would only be happy after coating the whole board in aluminium primer

Might try the birch ply like you suggest Terry.
