Hi Hayley here from the Isle of Wight.

I’m having a problem with a recent job and need some help please, my customer would like a flower graphic in vinyl on her new van, but she wants it to look sketched, scruffy and handrawn. I have scanned her own drawing and tries in to redraw in sign lab and illustrator but can’t get it to cut great or look anything like her vision, can some one please help me

I have converted to jpg. for a look.

To be honest – you’ll never get it to cut great and maintain the same look as a sketch. The pieces of vinyl will be too small.

What I suggest to do is re-draw it to get larger, more cohesive sections.

Print out on A4 & trace / draw over in black pen to give a thicker, more uniform appearance.

Like Dave has said you will never get that to look like a sketched flower using cut vinyl, if the customer really wants that sort of look then you are only going to get that sort of effect with a print.
Easy enough to redraw as a solid shape and do in vinyl or the other option is to try and find a printable flower that looks hand drawn.

Give the customer the option with 2 different prices and then let them decide would be your best bet.
