I live in a very upscale country area frequented by New Yorkers on the weekends and during the summer. I thought it was a good marketing idea to show my house markers at a nursery/farm market.

I put together a quick display last week and gave it a try. Wow….it worked great. I took several orders and quoted on some high end house markers and farm signs. On the first day, I had folks coming to see me who had been referred to me by folks who saw me in the morning. The beauty of this is I pick my hours and days. I’ve already spoken to the manager to learn the best times with the most people. I’ll be there this Friday afternoon when the New Yorkers come streaming up here.
    Wish me luck!

    Joe,
with work like yours, you shouldn’t need luck,
    but here’s wishing it anyway.

    Chip it to ’em……

Joe, I love your work — true craftsmanship. What part of upstate NY are you in? I am assuming its upstate NY since you said the new yorkers come there or are you in PA? How many years in the trade if I might ask —- just curious because my grandfather carved and did a lot of gold leaf work.

sorry that sounded slightly negative, i didnt mean it to be and age thing because my grandfather did it :lol1: i meant it because I try to use the work he did as an inspiration to some of the pieces I do and I love to use goldleaf when airbrushing too =).

Thanks Guys……you can bet I’m having fun!!!! 😀

George, this has been a 30 year career for me, although I’ve really been carving for over 50 years. I guess I’ve been lucky. I live in Connecticut on the boarders with MA and NY (Litchfield Hills/Berkshires). If I had the arm I used to have, I could hit the boarder marker of NY from this stand.

When I started, I sold at high end art and craft shows. Those shows no longer attract my collectors. So, where are they????? I asked myself. One place is here on weekends. All I have to do is get my work in front of their faces……SOLD!! 😀

Thanks again……I’ll update this as time goes along. I know this is gonna be real good!
