I’ve been real busy w/business and family so I haven’t been around much. I poke my head in once in awhile just to see what’s cooking. 🙂

Here’s a link to a pretty traditional sign I’ve just completed….hope this works

    http://www.kodakgallery.com/Slideshow.j … nn_speed=1

It’s about 2" wide by 3" long. Made of all pine. The deer is about 1’x1’x3/4" and carved from a single piece of wood. The customer was looking for an "old" look….they liked it! Hope you do to. 🙂

    That’s incredible!
Make sure you click on "next", there are two photos. The close-up of the deer is great.

Love it Joe thanks for sharing that with us, did you manage it in one go or do you need a couple of tries with thin legs/antlers breaking?

    Cheers

    Thanks Everybody! 🙂

I obviously got my feet and inches mixed up…..gettin old 🙁
    It’s 2’x3’….deer is in inches.

No breakage on the antlers or legs….just gotta keep the knife sharp and carve towards the body rather than away. In smaller deer, I’ll carve the front antlers then intentionally break em off (so I’m in control). Then I’ll carve the back ones and glue the front ones back on. It’s pretty easy…..after nearly 50 years of warmin up…..;)

    I’m glad you like it.

Now that I know how to at least post links, would you like to see more?

    Warning…….it could get boring….lol

    Thanks Again,

    Joe

    Sorry Robert,

I did put a clock on the deer carving…..4 hrs. including staining. I charged $250 for the deer and $500 for the whole project.

Here’s another……2’x3’+ This one is 1 3/4" deep. It’s carved to a depth of 1 1/2" There are 3 shots. The first is the completed carving; second is a detail of the left side and the third is the piece stained.
I guess this is off topic cause it isn’t a sign? If everybody keeps quiet, maybe Robert won’t notice…. lol 😉

    Joe,
