Flexi Starter 8, are you talking about Flexisign software or just a ripped off Chinese version, because any Flexisign package will have drivers for a whole host of cutters.

if flexi came bundled with a liyu plotter, you will need to upgrade.
Not sure if it its the case, but quite a few sign programs do this.
they license a basic package to a plotter supplier, but obviously restrict its use to that product.

True Peter if it is a OEM package then the drivers are for only that make of machine………but it does depend on what language the cutter works on, if HPGL then that covers a wide range of cutters.

hi yes it what came with the cutter flexisign with dongle. so from what you guys are saying i will have to get new software for the roland. so can i get a copy of flexisign starter that will work. i have got used to using it now. i have a tight budget so flexisign pro is not on the list at the moment.

Think that flexi starter only came/comes with the lesser known cutters ie pcut etc,
And is locked to the machine that it came with! I Would look on flea-bay but beware ask the questions if anyone is selling flexi cheap it maybe the starter pack for a specific machine,
    Vinyl-master is quite good though

Not sure if you can do this or not but worth a try, contact scanvec who produce flexisign and ask them if it is possible to trade your version in and get a discount on a version that will run on the roland.

No idea if they will do it but worth a shot.

thanks for all the help i think i will shift the liyu on with the flexisign and hope to get enough money to get new software. i have looked round ebay but most of the software seems to come from the usa. will the cutting program that comes with the gx24 be ok for now? until i can get another program.
    thanks rich

The Flexistarter 8 (opps 10 now) from USA on the well known auction site comes with the dongle and all the drivers for most if not all cutters. I bought as an add on for a specific job a while ago. Just remember you might have to pay the duty on it as well as the delivery to the UK.

Just offer your dongle number and password to the publishers of the software, they will be able to tell you if it is legit, if it isn’t then expect no tech support or upgrade path.

I am compiling a dossier for trading standards and every little thing helps. I hate seeing customers ripped off its hard enough running a business in this day and age as it is.

Have you tried installing the GX24 driver? Here’s a link, http://download.rolanddg.jp/en/cutting.html#gx24
I don’t know if this will help but it might be worth a try.

    HI Rich,

Do you have Adobe Illustrator? I have a GX24 and all I use is the plugin for that, easy to get a hold of and not had an issue in 4 years.
