    Morning All.

Although i’m quite ‘up’ on what is to be displayed on a CCTV sign, does anyone have any details or could point me in the direction of where I could find the full guidelines for CCTV signs ….. that’s of course if there is such a thing ?

I know you have to display the symbol and it must say who is operating the system, why they are operating and how to get in contact with them, but is there any legislation on colours or sizes for instance ?

Thanks in advance for any information.

It has to comply with the Data Protection Act… as you’re storing images.

I think – and I may well be wrong, that the sign has to identify who operates the system and their contact details.

Different wording & legislation for Data protection re: MONITORING images and RECORDING images. The former needs no data protection formalities as nothing is stored.

Colours – standard white/yell/blk if you are going to be legitimate.

Size – ‘big enough to be seen by members of the public’…that’s all.

Must be displayed before persons appear on camera at all possible approaches.

On the whole you cover yourself if signs are displayed & there are no COVERT cameras in an area which the public has access to as these breach UK legislation.
